About 25,400 Chinese lived in Portugal last year, making up the sixth-biggest community of foreigners there, Xinhua reports.
The Chinese government-run news agency, citing figures given by the Portuguese Foreigners and Borders Service, says over 480,000 foreigners lived in Portugal last year, 13.9 percent more than the year before and the most in history.
The 105,400 Brazilians living in Portugal made up the biggest foreign community, the 34,700 Cabo Verdeans made up the second-biggest and the 30,900 Romanians made up the third-biggest.
The fastest-growing community of foreigners in Portugal were the Italians, whose number rose to 18,900 last year, 45.9 percent more than the year before, Xinhua says.
