The developers of a solar power station in Brazil have ordered a 180 megawatt photovoltaic module from BYD Co. Ltd, a Chinese manufacturer of rechargeable batteries, Reuters reports.

The news agency, quoting a company announcement, says the module will be made in the BYD factory in Campinas in Brazil, and that it is due to be delivered to Guaimbê power station in Sao Paulo this year.

“With our new plant in Campinas, we are creating jobs and consolidating the solar generation market in the country,” the report quotes BYD Brazil president Tyler Li as saying. “Brazil is among the countries with the highest solar generation potential in the world, and we are happy to lead the supply of solar panels for large projects In Brazil.”

BYD means to begin offering next year solar modules for small and medium electricity generation projects, such as those meant to supply housing and factories, Reuters quotes Mr Li as saying.
