Ties between the Mainland and Portugal could be strengthened by a better understanding of each other’s literature, the Lusa news agency reports.“We can learn a lot from another through science and technology but there is one very important thing that literature brings: it is the understanding of humans,” Portugal’s Minister of Culture Luís Castro Mendes told the 1st Portugal-China Literary Forum in Lisbon. “We understand each other better as human beings through the mutual knowledge of our literatures.”
The forum saw Portuguese and Chinese writers discuss topics from literature to society at the forum, Lusa says.
