Mainland China was the leading destination for exports of beer, wine and soft drinks from Unicer Bebidas de Portugal, SGPS, SA last year, Público reports.

The Portuguese newspaper says the company’s exports to Asia tripled last year but does not reveal actual figures.

“We reacted well to challenges and have overcome our wishes,” Unicer chief executive Rui Ferreira was quoted as saying.

The report says the brewer of the Super Bock brand saw its sales to Angola fall significantly last year, leading to its change in strategy to focus on markets in Asia and at home. Exports to destinations other than Angola and Brazil grew by 20 percent last year, the report adds.
