The Olympic Games being held this month in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, have helped enhance the South American nation’s trade co-operation with China, said the Brazil-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
“You can see many products not only [related to] infrastructure and equipment but also clothing for the volunteers…; the stuffed animals; the official pins: all come from China,” said Uta Schwietzer, vice-president of the chamber, in comments last week to Chinese state-run broadcaster CCTV.
The report also said Chinese firms had been involved in many projects related to the Rio 2016 Olympics. For example, a Chinese company had manufactured ferries that link different parts of the coastal host city, while another Chinese firm has been in charge of the air-conditioning system in the venues.
China remained the biggest trading partner of Brazil in 2015, with a total trade value of more than US$66 billion, the report added.
