The Cape Verde-China Friendship Association (AMICACHI) is holding an exhibition this week in the African nation’s city of Mindelo, in São Vicente Island. The event celebrates the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cape Verde and China, Cape Verdean news agency Inforpress reported.
The exhibition was inaugurated on August 5 and lasts until August 12. It was held before in Cape Verde’s capital, Praia, and will next be showcased in São Filipe, in Fogo Island.
AMICACHI President José Correia told Inforpress the exhibition aims to raise awareness about the 40 years of friendship and co-operation ties between China and Cape Verde.
“The exhibition… [showcases] the results of several infrastructure [projects], diplomatic visits, co-operation [projects] on higher education… everything [involving] the partnership between these two countries,” Mr Correia added.
AMICACHI was established in 2011. It has since worked to promote exchanges and business between the two countries. The Municipality of Praia, in Cape Verde, said last month it was willing to provide land to the association for construction of a Chinese Cultural Centre there.
