China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group (CTCE) has built and managed a housing district, Sequela, in Angola’s capital, Luanda, state-run news agency Xinhua reported this week.
The project, which includes more than 10,000 flats, was completed by CTCE in 2014. More than 60,000 Angolans live there currently, the report said.
After the construction phase, the Chinese firm set up a property management and logistics support centre for the new town, with more than 100 Chinese workers providing round-the-clock services.
“We are trying to provide quality and timely services to local residents as part of our efforts to pay back to Angolan society,” said Wen Yongjun, director of the centre.
CTCE is a subsidiary of state-run China Railway Engineering Corporation.
