China hopes to enhance co-operation with Angola’s Huíla and Benguela provinces, China’s Ambassador to the African nation, Cui Aimin, said this week, according to Angolan media.
In a meeting on Thursday with Huíla’s Governor, João Marcelino Tyipinge, the Chinese Ambassador said – as quoted by Angolan news agency Angop – that co-operation could be extended to agriculture, mining and tourism. So far, co-operation between China and Huíla province has focused on building houses, hospitals, roads and railways, the report said.
One Chinese province – not named in Angop’s report – is said to be interested in co-operating with Huíla in areas including science and technology, agriculture, education and culture, the diplomat added.
Mr Cui Aimin also said he would lead a delegation of business people from several Chinese provinces on his next visit to Huíla. The aim would be to establish new partnerships, he stated.
On Wednesday, the Chinese Ambassador visited Angola’s Benguela province, where he met its Governor, Isaac dos Anjos. Mr Cui Aimin said China was interested in promoting the development of industry and agriculture in Benguela, the newspaper Jornal de Angola reported.
