China’s iron ore imports from Brazil totalled 191.6 million tonnes in 2015, a rise of 12.1 percent from a year earlier, the Chinese General Administration of Customs said this week.

In terms of market share, Brazilian iron ores represented 20.1 percent of China’s total iron ore imports in 2015, up from 18.3 percent in 2014, news agency Reuters reported.

China’s total iron ore imports for 2015 amounted to 952.9 million tonnes, a modest growth of 2.16 percent from the previous year.

Australia was the biggest supplier, providing nearly 60 percent of China’s total iron ore imports. China also bought iron ore from the Ukraine and South Africa, the news agency added.
