Portugal was ranked 23rd in a list of 189 countries analysed in the report “Doing Business 2016: Measuring Regulatory Quality and Efficiency”. The report was released on Tuesday.
Brazil ranked 116th, while Cape Verde occupied the 126th position, according to the report.
Mozambique was ranked 133rd, São Tomé and Principe 166th, East Timor 173rd, Guinea-Bissau 178th and Angola 181st, said the World Bank Group.
China was considered the 84th easiest country to do business in, the report showed.
According to the World Bank Group, the report this year measured regulations on 10 “areas of the life of a business”, namely “starting a business, dealing with construction permits, getting electricity, registering property, getting credit, protecting minority investors, paying taxes, trading across borders, enforcing contracts and resolving insolvency”.
The “Doing Business” report is published annually. It also measures labour market regulation, but this area was not included in this year’s ranking.
