China last week donated personal protection equipment for artisanal fishing worth US$30,000 to Guinea-Bissau, online media Macauhub reported.
The donation to the National Association of Artisanal Fishermen of Guinea-Bissau includes cotton gloves, rubber gloves, raincoats and boots, according to the report.
Wang Hua, Chinese Ambassador to the African nation, said that China would keep supporting the development of Guinea-Bissau. Mr Hua was speaking at a ceremony marking the donation.
Guinea-Bissau’s Secretary of State for Fisheries and Maritime Economy, Ildefonso Barros, noted in the ceremony that his country was thankful for China’s donation. His secretariat and the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Guinea-Bissau are currently studying the possibility of creating a credit line for men and women engaging in activities related to fishing, he added.
