A new online portal for Chinese living or wanting to invest in Portugal was officially launched on Thursday, Portuguese news agency Lusa reported.

The website is called ‘Portal Martim Moniz’, the name of a neighbourhood in Portugal’s capital, Lisbon, that has a significant Chinese community. The site address is www.portalmartimmoniz.pt.

The online portal aims to serve as a “platform” between Portugal and China, “strengthening ties that are more than 500 years old,” chief executive Den Chuang said in a statement, quoted by Lusa.

The website is available in Portuguese and Chinese. It features news, tourism and business information, and a forum.

João Ferro, Marketing Director of Portal Martim Moniz, said the increasing interest of Chinese investors and tourists in Portugal led to development of the website. It aims to offer them support, he added.
