The Rovuma Area 4 concessionaire is preparing a second floating platform, a copy of the first and called Coral Norte to duplicate gas extraction off the northern coast of Mozambique, according to a study that was prepared by the Mozambican firm Consultec and released by the Zitamar information portal.

The planned investment is US$7 billion and will still be subject to approval by the Mozambican government. If the schedule goes as planned, the platform will start producing in the second half of 2027. Coral Norte will be parked 10 kilometers north of Coral Sul.

Area 4 is operated by Mozambique Rovuma Venture (MRV), a joint venture co-owned by ExxonMobil, Eni and CNPC, which holds a 70% participating interest in the concession contract.
