On the night of the 23rd of June, the “Center for the Development of Agricultural Science + Chinese Education”, a collaboration between South China Agricultural University and the Federal University of Mato Grosso in Brazil, was officially inaugurated in a ceremony at the Federal University of Mato Grosso.

The ceremony was attended by Zhu Qingqiao, Chinese Ambassador to Brazil, Ma Jianfei, director of the Sino-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education, Qiu Rongliang, vice-president of South China Agricultural University, and Ewan da Silva, rector of the Federal University of Mato Grosso, all of whom contributed with complimentary speeches.

Ewan da Silva noted that the center’s adoption of the “Chinese + Agriculture” model was a pioneer, which he hopes will lead to additional partnerships with Chinese entities to boost regional development and improve the quality of life of the local population.

Ma Jianfei believes the collaboration will bring new impetus and vitality to Chinese teaching in the state of Mato Grosso and to China-Brazil cooperation in agricultural science and education.
