On 24 April, the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Macao SAR, Bian Lixin, visited the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum Macao, engaging in an exchange with the members of the Secretariat.
During the meeting, Secretary-General Ji Xianzheng presented to the delegation led by the Commissioner the characteristics of the Forum Macao mechanism, its development path and its essential functions, clarifying the role and position of the Secretariat in co-ordinating all involved parties to promote comprehensive, mutually beneficial co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. He reiterated that the Secretariat would continue to co-operate with all member entities of the Chinese side's Follow-up Action Committee, working towards the joint implementation of the "Action Plan for Economic and Trade Co-operation (2024-2027)" signed at the 6th Ministerial Conference of the Forum Macao.
Commissioner Bian Lixin highly recognised the work carried out by the Forum Macao and its Permanent Secretariat in promoting the joint development of Mainland China, Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries. She stated that the Commission would continue to strengthen co-ordination with the Secretariat, as well as jointly promote the construction of Macao as a Sino-Lusophone platform, taking advantage of Macao's strengths to serve the country's needs, precisely aligning with the co-operation needs between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and contributing to the appropriate diversification of Macao's economy.
