A Forum Macao delegation travelled to Guangzhou on May 8 and 9 to take part in an edition of the “Dynamic Macao Business and Trade Fair” held in that city. The event in Guangzhou included a Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Pavilion. The delegation also made visits to local companies, in order to promote ties with Portuguese-speaking Countries, and promote Macao’s platform role in relation to companies located in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Greater Bay Area).

During the “Dynamic Macao Business and Trade Fair,” Forum Macao gave information on the current respective social and economic situation and investment environment in the eight Portuguese-speaking countries, namely Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Timor-Leste. The aim was to further economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries, while supporting the Macao SAR Government’s promotional activities. The Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Pavilion – set up on a temporary basis once a year in Guangzhou – featured products, photographs, descriptive panels and videos to promote Forum Macao and Macao’s role as a service platform. The pavilion was at the Canton Fair Zone B.

The products on display and information on the business prospects within Portuguese-speaking Countries attracted the interest of business people and visitors from Mainland China. While in Guangzhou, the Forum Macao delegation took part in the Opening Ceremony of the “Dynamic Macao Business and Trade Fair” and the Guangdong-Macau Scientific and Technological Innovation Exchange Session. The delegation also visited the Pazhou Internet Innovation Cluster and the South China Inspection Technology and Equipment Park, and exchanged views with representatives from companies based in those two parks.

As part of its activities in Guangzhou, Forum Macao presented the current social and economic situation and the investment and business environment – and respective promotion policies – in the Portuguese-speaking Countries. The activities promoted Forum Macao and Macao’s role as a cooperation platform. They helped enhance economic and trade exchanges between the Greater Bay Area and Portuguese-speaking Countries, with the aim of developing contacts between companies from Mainland China and from Portuguese-speaking Countries, fostering pragmatic cooperation between the Greater Bay, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
