Award Ceremony of 16th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Short Video Competition is held – Team from Lou Hau High School wins Top Prize

Organized by the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, the 16th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Short Video Competition held its award ceremony on December 5 at the Complex of Commerce and Trade Co-operation Platform for China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.


The award ceremony was attended by Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, Ji Xianzheng; Head of the Department of Non-tertiary Education of the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Choi Man Chi; Vice Rector of the City University of Macau, Professor Ip Kuai Peng; Director of the PhD Program in Portuguese at the Faculty of Languages and Translation of Macao Polytechnic University, Professor Joaquim Carvalho; Department Head of the Student Affairs Office of the Macau University of Science and Technology, Dr. Remus, Wong Ka Weng; Director of Pui Ching Middle School Macau, Mak Chi Kei; Teacher at Lou Hau High School, Chao Iok Kuan; Teacher at Macau Anglican College, Sara Rodrigues; Teacher at Sheng Kung Hui Choi Kou School (Macau), Chan Iok Fai; Teacher at Sacred Heart Canossian College (English Section) Macau, Ivan Ao Ieong; all members of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, prize-winning students, their supervisors and parents.


Secretary-General Ji Xianzheng said in his speech that since the inception of the Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries in 2008, Forum Macao has been committed to leveraging the role of the Macao platform to facilitate cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs) for their amity. The short video competition was organized to encourage everyone to showcase and record the essence of culture and art brought by a series of activities of the Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries so that everyone could learn more about the Sino-Lusophone culture and the China-PSCs platform in Macao. He hoped that students could continue to utilize their strengths to promote Forum Macao and the Macao platform through more outstanding works. At the same time, he thanked the Macao SAR Government, tertiary institutions and secondary schools for their great support of the competition. The Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao would look forward to working with all parties in different aspects, thus further leveraging the role of the Macao platform, strengthening cultural exchanges between China and PSCs and making new contributions to the countries’ mutual development. 


The 16th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries was held between October 17 and 20 in Macao. To capture the event’s brilliant moments, the organizer hosted the 16th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Short Video Competition. The competition, which was well received by video-making enthusiasts from multiple universities and secondary schools in Macao, attracted 29 teams of students to participate. A jury made up of representatives from mainland China, Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries assessed the videos based on their themes, content, narratives, creativity, graphic composition and sound effects, among others. They selected one winner of the Top Prize, two winners of the Second Prize and eight winners of the Merit Prize, making a total of 11 outstanding short videos. The prize list is as follows:
