The Angola Visual Arts Exhibition and the Cabo Verde Visual Arts Exhibition were opened for public viewing starting on October 13, at the Taipa Houses. The exhibitions – “We are Stars” by Angolan artist Mr Guilherme Mampuya, and “Creole Orchestra” by Mr Tutu Sousa from Cabo Verde – are part of the 10th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, organised by the Permanent Secretariat of Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries (Macao).

An official opening ceremony for each of the exhibitions was held on October 18, at 5:45pm. Event guests included: Secretary-General of Forum Macao, Ms Xu Yingzhen, Angola’s Ambassador to China, Mr João Salvador dos Santos Neto; and the Ambassador of Cabo Verde to China, Ms Tânia Romualdo.

Angolan painter Mr Mampuya won the EnsArte Painting Award in 2008, one of Angola’s most important awards in the field of the arts. His exhibition “We Are Stars” is inspired by signs of the Zodiac, focusing on mankind’s role in the Universe and on Earth.

Cabo Verde’s artist Mr Sousa is presenting in Macao “Creole Orchestra”, featuring vivid paintings depicting the beautiful scenery of his country and its people’s traditions and customs. The works also highlight the cultural diversity of the Cabo Verde islands.

Both exhibitions are open to public until November 11, from 10:00am to 7:00pm. They are open daily except on Mondays.
