A delegation from the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) – also known as Forum Macao – visited Shenzhen, in Guangdong Province, on April 13 and 14, to take part in the “Dynamic Macao Week” held there. The delegation was led by the Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, Ms Xu Yingzhen.
The Dynamic Macao Week event – promoted by the Macao SAR Government – was aimed at deepening economic and trade exchanges and co-operation between Guangdong Province, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries, as well as promoting the role of Macao as a service platform. It additionally served to showcase the business and investment environments of Portuguese-speaking Countries.
The programme of the delegation’s visit included: the setting up of a temporary “Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Pavilion”; the organisation of a “Talk on Business Co-operation between Shenzhen, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries”; and field trips to local companies.
At the “Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Pavilion”, located at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao made available the latest social and economic information on seven Portuguese-speaking Countries, namely Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal and East Timor. It also showcased products, photos, information and audiovisual materials to promote Forum Macao and Macao as a service platform.
Representatives of Portuguese-speaking Countries in the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao also took part in exchanges with companies from Mainland China to discuss the investment environment in their respective countries.
On the afternoon of April 13, the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, the Economy, Trade and Information Commission of Shenzhen, and Invest Shenzhen successfully co-organised an event called the “Talk on Business Co-operation between Shenzhen, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries”.
At the event, participants discussed the work of Forum Macao and the role of Macao as a platform, as well as the economy and investment environments of Macao and Shenzhen. Representatives of Portuguese-speaking Countries in the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao introduced the business and investment environments of their respective countries, and exchanged views with executives from Guangdong companies working in a variety of fields, including: science and technology, lighting, photoelectric technology, electronics, telecommunications, nuclear engineering, civil engineering, cultural promotion, media, the garment industry, interior design, professional services, and trade.
The “Talk on Business Co-operation between Shenzhen, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries” also offered participants an opportunity to exchange views on ways to support the internationalisation of Chinese companies – namely those from Guangdong Province, particularly from Shenzhen – as well as to discuss the promotion of economic and trade co-operation between Guangdong Province, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
