A delegation headed by Mr Ding Tian, Deputy Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, visited Angola on July 5 and 6. The delegation was joined by representatives from economic departments and business enterprises from a number of provinces and municipalities in Mainland China.

During the visit, the delegation met with the Chinese Ambassador to Angola, Mr Gong Tao, and the newly-appointed representative of Forum Macao’s Focal Point in Angola, Mr Clemente Pedro Francisco Camenha. The delegation also visited the KGK Group, a jewellery business.

Mr Camenha and the delegation exchanged views on a number of topics, including: the main activities carried out by the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao last year; the work done this year in relation to the implementation of the measures mentioned in the plan of the 5th Ministerial Conference; Macao’s role as a Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries; and the preparation work for the 6th Ministerial Conference.

Both sides expressed the wish to continue promoting the role of Forum Macao. This was in order to make better use of the multilateral mechanism of Forum Macao and to take advantage of the role of Macao as an economic platform; a bridge between enterprises to help deepen the business relationship between China and Angola. Such ties would also assist in the further development of Forum Macao.

KGK Group, the company visited by the delegation, is considered highly influential in Angola’s jewellery sector.

Following the official visit to Angola, the Forum Macao delegation then went to São Tomé and Príncipe on July 7, to take part in the “Entrepreneurs Meeting for Commercial and Economic Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” – 2019.
