The Council of the Summit for Commercial and Industrial Development of Jiangsu, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries was established in 2014, further to promote co-operation between the participant parties in the Summit. It includes five working groups that will, respectively, promote co-operation in: trade and investment; education; agriculture; tourism; and fisheries.

The first meeting of the Working Group for Promoting Agricultural Co-operation took full advantage of Macao’s role as a platform linking China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.

Participants attending the meeting discussed the Programme of Activities for 2016/2017. It includes: the creation of a liaison and co-ordination mechanism; a strengthening of information sharing; the deepening of exchanges; and the establishment of mechanisms to promote and complete key projects as defined by the Working Group.

The main objective of the Working Group is to create new business opportunities and promote co-operation in agriculture between China, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
