A delegation from Shanxi Province, in Mainland China, paid on June 4 a visit to the headquarters of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), also known as Forum Macao. The delegation was led by Mr Sun Shaocheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Shanxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and head of its United Front Work Department.

During the visit, representatives from both sides exchanged opinions on how further to make use of the trade platform offered by Macao and of the services of Forum Macao, in order to boost co-operation between Shanxi Province and Portuguese-speaking Countries.

The Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, Mr Chang Hexi, welcomed the Shanxi delegation.

Mr Chang delivered a brief presentation on Forum Macao and its main projects with regard to trade promotion and co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. He mentioned the ‘Seminar on Business Co-operation between Shanxi, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries’, an event held last year to promote exchanges and trade between companies from the participating places.

Mr Chang highlighted the fact that the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao was committed to boosting co-operation between Shanxi and Portuguese-speaking Countries.

Mr Sun thanked the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao for its warm reception. He added that the visit helped the Shanxi delegation to deepen its knowledge about Macao and about Portuguese-speaking Countries.

The head of the visiting delegation also stated he hoped Shanxi, Macao and Portuguese-Speaking Countries would be able to promote further instances of mutual trade and economic co-operation, making use of the services of Forum Macao and of the advantages of the “One Centre, One Platform” strategy of the Macao SAR Government.
