A delegation of young entrepreneurs from Tianjin paid a visit on December 15 to the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, also known as Forum Macao.

The Vice-President of the Tianjin Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Mr Li Changjin, led the Tianjin delegation.

Mr Li is also President of the Tianjin Federation of Industry and Commerce.

The aim of the visit was to exchange views on co-operation between the Tianjin Municipality and Portuguese-speaking Countries, by making use of the multilateral co-operation mechanisms offered by Forum Macao and Macao itself.

The Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, Mr Chang Hexi, began the meeting by delivering a brief presentation on the work performed by the Permanent Secretariat on the promotion of economic and trade co-operation, cultural exchanges and co-operation in the area of human resources between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. Mr Chang also delivered a presentation on the current respective stages of development of Portuguese-speaking Countries.

Mr Chang said the Permanent Secretariat had been promoting economic and trade co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries in several areas. He added young entrepreneurs from Tianjin could make use of the role of Macao as a platform – and of Forum Macao as a multilateral co-operation mechanism – to enhance links with Portuguese-speaking Countries. He also said the Permanent Secretariat would support the endeavours of young Tianjin entrepreneurs in this regard.

Mr Li thanked the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao for the warm reception. He said the delegation’s visit was aimed at improving the knowledge of Tianjin’s young entrepreneurs regarding Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries. He added the visit was also aimed at promoting exchanges and new communication channels.

Mr Li said he hoped young entrepreneurs from Tianjin could explore new business opportunities by making use of the co-operation tools made available by Forum Macao and Macao.
