The Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), also known as Forum Macao, will strengthen co-operation this year with authorities in the municipality of Zhongshan.

A delegation of Forum Macao on November 26 made a second visit to Zhongshan to learn more about a cross-border e-commerce platform developed by a Zhongshan-based company.

In a new era of scientific and technological transformation, the development of electronic platforms creates a great opportunity to promote economic and social development between different sides.

The formula “Internet + cross-border e-commerce” developed by a company in Zhongshan highlights the potential for electronic media to foster cross-border trade.

This particular platform could prove to be of particular relevance in the economic and trade exchanges between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, as it creates opportunities for a new form of trade between the two sides, taking advantage of the Macao platform.

This new platform also presents an opportunity to minimise bureaucratic processes regarding trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, thus facilitating the development of small- and medium-sized enterprises, creating jobs and enabling the reform of traditional industries. The platform can also promote a new model for development of foreign trade and improve the competitiveness of products from Portuguese-speaking Countries.
