Jointly hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, and the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, the first Business Conference on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development ran from September 14 to 15 in Macao. All members of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao attended the opening ceremony.
Secretary-General Ji Xianzheng delivered a speech at the plenary meeting titled “Jointly Building the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to Develop an Open World Economy.” Secretary-General Ji stated that the construction of the Greater Bay Area represents new ground for the cooperation platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs) and has created new opportunities for PSCs to share the dividends of China’s reform and opening-up in the new era. As one of the most promising growth poles in the future global landscape, the Greater Bay Area is destined to become a high-potential partner of PSCs for economic and trade cooperation. The Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao will diligently implement the consensus reached by the state leaders and ministers of economic and trade affairs while consolidating institutional cooperation with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, striving to bring the Macao platform closer to businesses in the Greater Bay Area, and continually upgrading the cooperation between China and PSCs in a wide range of fields.
During the Conference, members of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao also interacted with government institutions and business representatives from home and abroad on better participation in the construction of the Greater Bay Area in the new era.
