The “14th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, organized by the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, will open on November 18. A series of activities will take place for three consecutive days at the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf for the public to appreciate the cultural traditions of China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

In this edition of the Cultural Week, Macao’s Portuguese-speaking art troupes will give exuberant singing, dancing, and music performances. Through live cookery demonstrations, chefs from different places will make classic Portuguese-speaking countries dishes and desserts. Chinese craftsmen will demonstrate characteristic folk handicrafts on-site such as bamboo weaving, shadow puppetry, sugar sculpture, and dough sculpture. Lusophones residing in Macao will set up booths to present a diverse array of handicrafts and costumes. For the first time, this year’s Cultural Week will work together with the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) to offer the “Let’s Hang Out – Lusophone and Macao Products Bazaar” to exhibit featured products from Portuguese-speaking countries, such as wine, canned sardines, and Portuguese hams, as well as specialties and cultural and creative products from Macao.

A series of cultural workshops and traditional games will be available on-site for different ages. Visitors can register for the workshops at the website of the Cultural Week, https://semanacultural.forumchinaplp.org.mo/, to experience making cocktails and figurines characteristic of Portuguese-speaking countries or appreciate their traditional dances.

All local residents and tourists are cordially invited to experience the profundity of traditional Chinese handicrafts and the exuberance of Lusophone culture at the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf!
