Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, Mr Ji Xianzheng, met with Macao SAR Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Lei Wai Nong

The Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, Mr Ji Xianzheng, paid a visit to the Macao SAR Secretariat for Economy and Finance, for a courtesy meeting with the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Lei Wai Nong, on January 13. 


Secretary Lei welcomed Mr Ji, and said that the Macao SAR Government would maintain its full support for the work done by the Permanent Secretariat. He said the goal was to make the most of Forum Macao’s role, in tandem with the construction of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, to continue building a service platform for trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, that could contribute to Macao’s economic diversification.


Secretary-General Mr Ji thanked the Macao SAR Government for the support given to Forum Macao since its inception, and said he valued the continued efforts of all parties involved in Forum Macao. Mr Ji emphasised Macao’s unique advantages as a platform for cooperation and exchanges between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, as well as the progress made in the development of Forum Macao. He also vowed to listen to suggestions from all of those involved in Forum Macao, making the most of their enthusiasm to overcome the adverse impact of the pandemic, in order to ensure that Forum Macao operated in a more stable and proactive manner.


Mr Ji said this effort would make it possible to continue building a service platform for trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries; promote cooperation and exchanges in various fields between Portuguese-speaking Countries and the provinces and municipalities of Mainland China; explore ways to boost the development of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin; and better to integrate Macao into national development, promoting the city’s economic diversification.
