The president of GWM (Great Wall Motors) International, Parker Shi, announced that the company intends to open a plant in Brazil in the first half of 2025 and should have 60% of the parts used in cars produced in Brazil manufactured in the country.

The executive said that the company wants to take advantage of the size of the Brazilian market to create a “growth platform” in the country, with dealerships, supplier network, workforce and export network to neighboring countries.

The GWM's new plant will be located on the former Mercedes site. The plant will be completed in May 2025 and has a capacity to produce 50,000 vehicles a year, but the company estimates that the installation will reach close to 25,000 vehicles in the first year of operation.
