China is responsible for more than 90% of electric cars imported into Brazil

In the first half of 2024, China broke records by selling more than 62 thousand electric cars in Brazil. This number represents 91.4% of cars of this type imported during this period. The data are from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (Mdic).


In second place, Hong Kong sold 4 thousand units to Brazil. In the same period of 2023, China had negotiated only 863 electric cars with the Brazilian market.


The total value of electric cars imported from China was US$1.2 billion, which represents 88.7% of the total imported by Brazil.


Ricardo Bastos, director of GWM and president of the Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association (Abve), said that electrification will be strong in Brazil, sales will continue to grow. It is expected that, by 2030, electrified vehicle sales as a whole will represent a third of the Brazilian market.
