On June 17, EDP concluded the sale of the EDP Group's 50% stake in Energia Asia Consultoria to China Three Gorges International Limited, for a total consideration of around 100 million euros.
China Three Gorges, the Chinese state-owned group that is EDP's largest shareholder, is the new shareholder of the Macau electricity company.
Energia Asia was a subsidiary owned 50% by EDP and 50% by ACE Asia Co. Ltd., whose sole asset is a 21.2% stake in Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, which has acted as the exclusive concessionaire for the transmission, distribution and supply of electricity in Macau since 1985.
"This transaction is fully aligned with EDP's 2023-2026 Business Plan, allowing it to reallocate its capital to its core activities," the company said in a statement.
