Brazil consolidates position as main supplier of corn and soybeans to China

Recent figures released by Chinese customs revealed that Brazil has extended its dominance over the United States as the main supplier of corn and soybeans to China in the first two months of 2024.


Corn imports from Brazil to China reached 4.1 million tons, out of a total of 6.19 million tons received during the January-February period. This significant increase represented a jump of 178% compared to the same period last year, while corn imports from the USA fell by 67%.


In addition, China's imports of soybeans from Brazil increased by 211% year-on-year in the first two months of 2024. China imported 6.96 million tons of soybeans from Brazil, a significant increase compared to 2.24 million tons in the same period last year, while imports from the US fell to 4.96 million tons.
