The Chinese Language and Culture Education Foundation of China held a training seminar for Chinese instructors in Brazil, the China News Service reports.

Saturday’s seminar attracted more than 100 teachers from schools in regions that included São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, the report says.

Zhang Yucheng, head of Overseas Chinese Affairs at Chinese Consulate in São Paulo, was quoted saying the training would enhance the teaching and help foster more bilingual Chinese-Portuguese students.

Founded in September 2004, the State Council controls the unit, whose mandate is to promote culture and language.
