A Brazilian official has said the authorities in his country would welcome more Chinese investment in infrastructure projects, Reuters reports.

The news agency quotes the head of the Brazilian government-run Investment Partnerships Programme, Adalberto Vasconcelos, as saying the Government intends to privatise more of the assets it owns, or issue concessions to exploit them.

The report says one purpose is to speedup the improvement of infrastructure with a view to lowering the cost of Brazilian farm exports.

China was the main market for Brazilian agricultural exports last year, when farm products made up 42.4 percent of Brazilian exports.

The Brazilian government will auction in March three concessions to run 20 airports, and later offer two more concessions to run other airports, Reuters says.
