The Macao Cultural Affairs Bureau has announced that the Macao Orchestra has begun a tour of Portugal which comprises performances in Évora, Coimbra, Portalegre and Lisbon.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau issued a written announcement saying it arranged the tour in collaboration with the Macao Government Tourist Office for the purpose of celebrating 70 years since the People’s Republic of China was founded, 40 years since Portugal and the People’s Republic of China established diplomatic relations and 20 years since China resumed exercising its sovereignty over Macao.

The tour will demonstrate the cultural accomplishments of Macao, while promoting cultural exchanges between China and Portugal, the announcement says.

Separately, the Macao Orchestra disclosed that it performed in Évora last Sunday and will give its last performance of the tour in Portugal’s capital Lisbon next Sunday.
