Angolan Ambassador to China João dos Santos urged on Monday Chinese enterprises to invest in the mining industry in his country, Angop reports.

The Angolan news agency quotes Mr Santos as saying when a roadshow about Angolan mining concessions due to be auctioned next month stopped in Beijing that he hoped the roadshow would inform enterprises about the industry and prompt them to invest in it.

Mr Santos said his government was trying to make Angola less dependent on exporting oil, and had acted to improve the business environment there to attract foreign investment in other industries, such as mining.

He said the roadshow was the outcome of an understanding between Angolan President João Lourenço and Chinese President Xi Jinping to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation.

Over 150 people attended the roadshow when it stopped in Beijing, Angop says.
