Members from the Macao-Portugal Joint Committee will discuss co-operation in education, the Macao Tertiary Education Services Office has announced.
A statement from the office says the Portuguese Language and Education Sub-committee will meet in Lisbon today and tomorrow to discuss the teaching of the Portuguese language in Macao, and co-operation between institutions of higher education in Portugal and Macao.
The meeting will cover recognition of qualifications awarded by institutions in both jurisdictions, training for teachers of Portuguese and access to tertiary education in Portugal for Macao students.
Macao Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Tam Chon Weng says he hopes Macao will earn a good reputation for teaching Portuguese, which is essential if Macao is to perform its role as a place where the Mainland and Portuguese-speaking countries can do business.
