The World Bank has approved US$40-million worth of support – US$26 million via grants – to an agricultural project in Mozambique, the international institution announced last week.
The aim is to “contribute to the sustainability of natural resources while improving the livelihoods of targeted rural households in Mozambique,” the World Bank said in a press release.
The Agriculture and Natural Resources Landscape Management Project would benefit “more than 20,000 households” in a number of ways, including “increased market access,” “new technologies and mechanisation” and “financing,” said the note.
The initiative will also help another “100 small and emerging commercial farmers and 25 small, medium and large enterprises” in accessing grants, commercial finance and technical and business support and training, according to the press release.
