A delegation from Angola, led by Minister for Media, José Luís de Matos, visited Beijing this week to attend the 3rd Forum on China-Africa Media Cooperation, Angolan news agency Angop reported.

The Angolan group included representatives of several media outlets from that country.

The event aimed to boost the development of China-Africa ties and co-operation in the media sector.

Before the visit, Mr Matos told Angop that Angola would not sign any deals during the forum: members of the delegation would focus on identifying new areas for future co-operation with China.

The Forum on China-Africa Media Cooperation was set up in 2012, under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, reported Chinese state-run broadcaster CCTV. It is held every two years, either in China or Africa.

This year’s edition of the media forum – held from June 20 to June 22 – attracted more than 300 delegates from 44 African nations, according to CCTV.
