The progress of economic and trade co-operation between China and Angola was reviewed in a meeting between the two parties in Beijing, on Wednesday, Angolan news agency Angop reported.

Angela Bragança, Angola’s Secretary of State of Foreign Affairs for Co-operation, said in the meeting that China is one of Angola’s main strategic partners. Ms Bragança was leading an official delegation that visited China this week.

The Beijing meeting served as a preparation for a China-Angola business forum, and for the second session of the Guidance Commission for Economic and Commercial Co-operation between Angola and China. Both events will soon be held in Luanda, Angola’s capital, Angop reported.

The China-Angola business forum will discuss several topics, including: the implementation of goals under the China-Africa co-operation programme – an initiative announced by China’s President Xi Jinping at the China-Africa Forum held in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 2015; and a plan for financing co-operation between China and Angola, Angop added.
