Over the next 18 months, the Chinese group Eternal Tsingshan will set up a dry port at the Machipanda administrative post, on the border between Mozambique and Zimbabwe, in an investment of around 13 million US dollars.

The group operates in Zimbabwe in the mining sector, mainly in the production of steel and nickel, which is exported using ports of South Africa.

According to the newspaper, the Machipanda dry port will handle around two million tons of its cargo, leaving Zimbabwe for the port of Beira, in central Mozambique, a figure that could grow with the handling of other cargo.

The group of Chinese investors will also set up an industrial park in the district of Dondo, Sofala province, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Mozambican government.
