A Chinese business conference, the Horasis China Meeting, held in Cascais, Portugal this week, was due to attract more than 300 Chinese and global business leaders, Portuguese news agency Lusa reported.

The 11th Horasis China Meeting is organised by Horasis – an independent think tank founded in Switzerland – and the Portuguese Government; in collaboration with the Chinese Government and the China Federation of Industrial Economics.

The meeting was due to discuss investment opportunities, as well as the economic situations of China, Portugal and other countries, according to Lusa.

Carlos Carreiras, President of the Municipality of Cascais, told Lusa the meeting – held from Thursday to Friday – would attract the Chinese business elite, making Cascais “a door for [Chinese] investments in Portugal and in Europe”.

Executives of companies from China, Asia, the United States and Europe were also expected at the meeting. Portugal’s Prime Minister, Pedro Passos Coelho, was also expected to attend.
