Chinese company inaugurates fish processing unit in Guinea-Bissau

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Communities of Guinea-Bissau, Suzi Carla Barbosa, said on the 17th of March, that the inauguration of the Fish Processing and Conservation Unit is the realization of government’s objectives, which has an enormous impact both on the economy of the country and at the social level. The industrial unit is the result of a protocol agreement signed in 2015 between the government of Guinea-Bissau and the Chinese company Zhongyu Global Seafood Corporation.

The Minister of Fisheries, Orlando Mendes Veigas, informed that the unit occupies a geographical area of 4,000 square meters and the total investment was 8 million dollars. He added that the unit consists of two cold storage rooms of 300 tons each, two tunnel quick-freezing machine with the capacity of 15 tons per day, an ice production plant of 6 tons per day, offices and warehouses.

ZhongYu Global Seatfood Corporation is a subsidiary of China National Fisheries Corporation (CNFC). The chairman of CNFC, Zong WengFeng, also attended the ceremony.
