A delegation of Government officials and entrepreneurs from the manufacturing city of Zhongshan, in Guangdong, China, visited São Paulo in Brazil this week to examine business opportunities, said the Commercial Association of São Paulo (ACSP).
Macau’s online news portal Macauhub reported that Yang Wenlong, Deputy Mayor of Zhongshan, led a 30-strong group in a tour to the South American nation. Mr Yang met Roberto Ticoulat, Vice-President of ACSP and President of the Brazilian Council for Import and Export Companies, during the trip.
Mr Yang was quoted as saying his city “intends to do business in Brazil”.
Liu Yuhang, another representative of the delegation, said Zhongshan wanted to “use Brazil as a gateway to Latin America” while Brazilians could use Zhongshan as an entry route to the Chinese market.
According to the report, the trade between Zhongshan and Brazil reached US$430 million in 2014. The Chinese city is well known for its electronic products, furniture and textiles industries.
