The director general of Planning, Budget and Management of the Ministry of Health, Silvino Rodrigues, signed an agreement on the 28th of August with the Counselor of the Chinese Embassy that establishes the final preparations for the start of works on the construction project of the maternity and pediatrics at Baptista de Sousa Hospital, São Vicente.

This is a project budgeted at more than 1 billion escudos, included in the Government Program from the X Legislature 2021 to 2026 which aims to provide that hospital with a modern and well-equipped structure for better health care in the fields of maternity and pediatrics.

According to the Government, the Counselor of the Embassy of China in Cape Verde expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration and highlighted the importance of the project for the development of the area of maternal and child health, not only on the island of São Vicente, but also for the whole country.
