Trade between Angola and China reached US$10.8 billion in the first half of 2026, according to Zhang Bin, China’s Ambassador to Angola. The figure represented more than half of the US$20.8 billion recorded in 2025. The diplomat said he hoped that bilateral trade this year would exceed last year’s level.

Zhang Bin released the figures after a meeting with Adão de Almeida, Speaker of Angola’s National Assembly. The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and co-operation between the legislative bodies of the two countries. They also agreed to step up high-level visits between the speakers of the two parliaments, deepen exchanges between their specialised committees and strengthen the sharing of experience in public administration and legislative work.

The ambassador also highlighted the interest shown by Chinese companies and investors in the Angolan market. He said that Angola had received business delegations from China interested in learning about the business environment and that several projects were at the implementation stage.

Between January and June, the Chinese Embassy in Angola issued more than 3,000 visas to Angolan nationals. According to Zhang Bin, the figure reflected increased movement of people between the two countries.
