Paulo Henrique Saraiva Câmara, President of Banco do Nordeste do Brasil S.A. (BNB), will lead an official mission to China as part of the “China Mission – Innovation and Finance”, scheduled for 2026. The decision, signed by Rogério Ceron de Oliveira, Executive Secretary of Brazil’s Ministry of Finance, was recently published in the Federal Official Gazette.

The choice of China as the destination for this strategic mission reflects the country’s importance in the global financial technology ecosystem, particularly among financial technology companies, known as fintechs. Beijing and Shanghai are major innovation hubs for digital payment systems, the application of artificial intelligence to lending, and the green economy, areas prioritised by the current BNB management.

The mission is due to take place in 2026 at a time of consolidating bilateral relations between Brazil and China, two countries with long-standing trade ties. The technical objectives of the visit include exploring access to new sources of external financing and examining financial inclusion models adopted in China.
