Demand for international purchases continues to grow in Brazil, according to data from the DHL E-Commerce Trends Report 2026, a report produced by logistics company DHL based on responses from 1,000 Brazilian consumers. According to the study, China is the main country of origin for products purchased by Brazilian consumers in cross-border e-commerce, accounting for 82 per cent of references, followed by the United States, with 56 per cent, and Argentina, with 11 per cent.
The results reinforce Brazil’s position as the third-largest consumer market for Chinese products among the countries analysed, behind only Thailand, where the percentage reaches 95 per cent, and Malaysia, with 87 per cent. According to the survey, this behaviour is driven mainly by more competitive prices, cited by 62 per cent of respondents, and the lower availability of certain products in the domestic market, mentioned by 42 per cent.
Despite growing interest among Brazilian consumers in purchases from abroad, the study notes that significant obstacles remain in the purchasing process. Among the main challenges are customs clearance procedures, mentioned by 58 per cent of respondents, as well as delivery costs and long delivery times, cited by 47 per cent. These factors continue to affect the shopping experience and help explain why, over the past three months, 79 per cent of consumers surveyed abandoned items in their shopping carts.
