Cape Verde’s inflation drops again to negative in February

Cape Verde’s inflation rate returned to negative territory in February, according to data from the country’s National Statistics Institute.

Consumer prices, as measured by the Índice de Preços no Consumidor (IPC index), dropped to -0.2 percent in February in year-on-year terms.

In January, the index had temporarily returned to positive levels, expanding by 0.1 percent compared with the year-earlier period, ending a cycle of negative growth rates that started in April 2014.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices contracted by 0.4 percent in February.
