The Mato Grosso Institute of Beans, Pulses, Special Crops and Irrigation (IMAFIR) has signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Henan Sesame Research Center, linked to the Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences (HSRC-HAAS) in China. The partnership establishes a strategic collaboration between Brazil and China for the research, development and international marketing of sesame, with a strong impact for producers in Mato Grosso.
This is yet another concrete result of Mato Grosso's participation in the China International Import Expo (CIIE), one of the largest import fairs in the world, which will take place in November 2024.
According to the Deputy Secretary for Agribusiness, Credit and Energy at the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Linacis Vogel Lisboa, the agreement signed between Imafir and Chinese researchers is based on the exchange of germplasm, the development of new varieties of sesame adapted to the Brazilian soil and climate, as well as promoting technical exchanges between researchers from both countries.
