China is investing heavily in Brazil's renewable energy sector through PowerChina International, one of the world's largest energy infrastructure companies. The new solar megaproject in Ceará, with an investment of over R$1 billion, promises to transform the country's energy matrix and generate thousands of jobs.
Since 2010, Ceará has implemented public policies to attract investment in the sector, becoming a benchmark in solar and wind energy production. The solar plant, which is being built in the municipalities of Mauriti and Milagres, will have the capacity to supply around 350,000 homes and will start operating in April 2025.
PowerChina's project not only boosts the energy sector, but also promotes direct benefits for the local economy. With the construction of the plant, more than 2,000 direct and indirect jobs will be generated, stimulating economic growth in the region.
